Dom has offered his reflections of POL6 and outlines the benefits he believes undertaking the paper will have on his career path:

"In a sea of more open-ended essay-based courses, there is something satisfying about studying an empirical paper. Pol 6 was probably my most distinctive paper, both in its content and how it was taught, through both lectures and practical sessions. In offering a whole new approach to discussing and evaluating claims, the course has given me more confidence (and made me more sceptical) about forming and accepting arguments. Being able to demonstrate an ability to interpret and analyse statistics and numbers is a great complement to a humanities degree. I intend to go into the civil service/policy development and the skills and knowledge I’ve gained from Pol 6 – evaluation, a solid understanding of statistical terminology, the theory behind statistics – will be invaluable in this kind of career."
